In current practice, when a product is configured by a customer, its information is received by sales representatives. The real challenge then lies in how this information is handled, more specifically in the distribution of it. Once receiving said information it is up to the respective sales representative to manually ensure that the right entities receive the right data in order to generate a sufficient and satisfying quote.

Oftentimes, with the intent to save time, processes are hastened and quotes are generated without harmonizing CPQ* data with essential information from ERP, PLM and CAD. Price estimates might therefore not be in line with what is possible e.g. financially within the organization, resulting in providing the customer with false or misleading information.

Experlogix/e-Con in Bluestar PLM

Adding the Experlogix/e-Con configurator to the existing PLM/ERP symbiosis of Bluestar PLM and Microsoft D365/AX adds to a self-moving and streamlined digital thread of communication and sharing of data between entities, eventually concluding the product development cycle.

Customer specific configuration data from the Experlogix/e-Con configurator is by default delegated amongst entities in Bluestar PLM and D365/AX, eradicating human errors by manual handling.

This means that company representatives will only need to worry about handling discipline-specific data; for example engineers only having to treat product design and development, enabling for better data governance, handling and traceability, and furthermore ensuring best practice across company instances hence accelerating time to market, compliance, quotation generation etc.
