Background
DAS Environmental Expert GmbH (DAS EE) specializes in waste gas and wastewater treatment technologies, particularly for the semiconductor industry. Operating since its recent expansion in Dresden, the company employs over 800 individuals globally. Traditionally, DAS EE managed its mechanical components through a PDM system, with their M-CAD system, Creo Parametric from PTC, interfacing directly with PDM to facilitate the exchange of parameters.
However, the lack of a connection to their electrical design counterpart, Eplan, and the need for a separate ERP system interface posed significant challenges. This siloed approach was a barrier to achieving integrated data management and operational efficiency. As a result, DAS EE embarked on a strategic move to not only upgrade their systems from on-premises solutions to more flexible cloud-based systems but also to streamline their processes and data flow through the adoption of a PLM system. This transition aimed to consolidate their mechanical and electrical design processes into a single, cohesive system.
The transition process was comprehensive, affecting nearly all departments and involving key users from engineering to production and control. The initiative to implement Bluestar PLM was a step towards enhancing DAS EE’s digital infrastructure and ensuring that their systems could support the company’s global operations and ambitions for continued growth and innovation in environmental management solutions.
Results
Until then, everyone had their own core system. The now uniform user interface, from which both ERP and PLM functions can be easily called up, has brought about an enormous change here.
– Anja Scholze, Team Lead Projects
Just like the fact that we have now connected Eplan in addition to Creo and integrated software development in the form of source code documents. This consistency was missing in engineering before.
