Scanlab – Innovators for industry

SCANLAB has grown to around 500 employees in just over three decades. Most of them are employed at the headquarters near Munich, however, they come from 36 different countries. Their success is based on a highly qualified workforce, around half of which is made up of engineers and scientists across all areas of the company. 

Background

SCANLAB, a leading manufacturer of laser scanning systems based near Munich, successfully implemented Bluestar PLM within Microsoft Dynamics F&SCM. This integration, achieved in under two years with the help of the D365 partner Be-Terna, significantly improved the company’s engineering and production processes.

The implementation of Bluestar PLM brought several key outcomes. Data management was enhanced, reducing duplicates and ensuring clean, well-maintained data. The integration created a seamless link between engineering and production, eliminating the previous paper-based parts list and facilitating digital management. Automated BOM generation became a reality, ensuring that the manufacturing BOM was always accurate and up-to-date, which in turn improved production quality and reduced errors. The Engineering Change Management (ECM) module made analyzing and controlling changes in parts and systems more efficient, while comprehensive product classification improved traceability and reduced unnecessary reinventions.

Additionally, Bluestar PLM facilitated improved collaboration and efficiency throughout the organization. The combined ERP/PLM system supported the entire company, enhancing its ability to meet high quality standards and handle a diverse range of products and applications.

The data is always up to date. The mBOM automatically provides the latest released version. This leads to significantly fewer errors in production. The quality is significantly improved, and we can meet the high quality requirements of our customers even better.
